About this webinar

In light of World Diabetes Day, we invite you to join us in an informative webinar on the topic of “Risk for Diabetics During COVID-19“.

Since the initial COVID-19 outbreak in China, much attention has been focused towards people with diabetes because of poor prognosis in those with the infection. Initial reports were mainly about people with type 2 diabetes, although recent studies have shown that individuals with type 1 diabetes are also at a severe risk due to COVID-19.

In this valuable session we’ll be addressing the following:

  • How COVID-19 has a direct impact on individuals with Diabetes?
  • Whether people with Diabetes have a higher chance of experiencing serious complications resulting from COVID-19?
  • What should people with diabetes know and do?
  • What are the symptoms and warning signs I should be watching out for—and what do I do if I think I’m at a risk?
  •  Are the risks different for people with only type 1 and type 2 Diabetes?
  • How to empower Patients affected with Diabetes During COVID-19

We have invited Dr. Manilka Sumanatilleke, Consultant Endocrinologist, National Hospital of Sri Lanka to address any misconceptions or doubts you may have and will also highlight resources you can leverage on within the community and other support services you may find useful.
